really big room, nice bed & linens; excellent port/old town location- rent bikes nearby! breakfast included at basic cafe next door
tv didn't work; bathroom very basic and not updated; breakfast service dismal
The Location was great. It was clean and comfortable and quaint.
No elevator. Having to walk stairs and carry luggage was hard.
The rooms were very spacious, and the staff very friendly. Location was great.
Breakfast was rather not quite as good as it might have been
the continental breakfeast.....one 2 slice toaster, one small coffee pot and one long line of people waiting for both.. the place was nice but if I ever stay there again, I wouldn't wait around till 9AM. Not only were they ill equipped, there was not much to choose from..
This budget hotel overlooks the St. Lawrence river with reasonable views. The was a spa bath in the suite which for a couple was nice.
A person has to migrate up to the third floor to reach a suite that has been converted into the dinning room. Although breakfast is supplied, except for the coffee, all food is cold while being minimal in choice. Additionally, there is no room service or porter so you have to move all your luggage yourself.
I liked the location of this Auberge very much, which is in the Old Port section of Old Montreal, right across from the river. I also liked the fact that there was no carpeting in the room and only hard wood flooring. The brick exposed wall also made the room feel very classic and timeless. The room was only for 2 people, however it was roomy and very airy. The bathroom was very French country, with large white subway style tiles, and the perfect amount of space to shower as well. I would stay at this Auberge again when I come to visit Montreal.
There was a constant door bell ringing on our last evening there. This woke us up quite a few times during the early morning. I don't know if this was a mechanical issue with the outside door way entrance. However, this only happened on our last evening there.
The location is perfect in the middle if the Old Montreal. Perfect for tourism. Large room, with old fashioned ( but flavourful) furniture. Easy parking
It is not really a hotel, because it has not the typical services ( Reception, restaurant, meeting rooms) Then, if you want a romantic weekend with your couple, it is perfect. If it is a business trip, you will miss some services. There is no reception ( just a phone number). I did not have any unsolved problem, in spite of that
It had a very European feel to it. We both thought it was great that the reservation desk was in the small lobby (it consisted of a small desk, a chair and a very friendly girl confirming our reservation and giving us our instructions). They had a very casual manner about it. We loved our room and the ease of getting everywhere in Old Montreal so easily.
The breakfast at the cafe next door was very good and substantial BUT the owner was not very friendly. The first morning we went for breakfast they had a very lovely waitress who made us feel right at home but the next day the waitress and owner were very cold and unfriendly and made us feel as if it was an imposition that we went there for our breakfast. When we asked for a second cup of coffee he said (that will be one dollar each) and my husband said "forget it". Then the owner relented and gave us each a second cup but who wanted it with that attitude. If we had stayed another day we would not have gone for breakfast, even though it was part of the cost of the room.
It was very well located, in the old town of Montreal. The people running it are excellent, very friendly, and very helpful in terms of recommendations, etc. It was a very good value by Canadian big city standards.
On Monday, there is garbage pickup, which is a bit noisy in the early morning. Construction in the area seems to start at 6:00 am, and the sound travels very well in narrow streets lined with stone buildings.
I liked the feel of the place, you could feel the "oldness" of the building. I liked what appeared to be original wood - it made me wonder who had been there before
No coffee maker/tea kettle - a small fridge would also be good. The in room phone did not allow for incoming calls
Room was huge.....but no lifts.....need to carry bags up the stairs. Beautiful old building housing the apartments right in the middle of the old town shops and restaurants.
Coffee/ tea making facility would be handy.
An enormous and very comfortable room overlooking the port with 4 windows giving an excellent view. Excellent bathroom.
very small bathroom
Everything. The main reason we picked it was because we could walk to the cruise terminal at the end of our stay.
The hotelier was very friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable and the location was ideal for old Montreal.
The service at the cafe next door where breakfast was served could of been a bit earlier, 9 am was a but late for us, the waiter was on his own and it took a while to get served.
Room was charming and big. Location was amazing.
Our room was on the alley side of the building and it was a little dark.
